Brass is a coper & zinc alloy, which results in the slightly 'goldish' colour. Brass can sometimes tarnish easily when exposed to oxygen, however, some people prefer this effect to their brass jewelry. Brass is easily to shine and untarnish, and due to it being raw (solid) you don't have to worry about removing a 'painted on' top coat.
Why FINCHES' Stocks Raw Brass:
- We love the unfinished rustic look
- Price- all of our Raw Brass products are priced at $5. From our Raw Brass earrings to our custom Raw Brass bangles.
- Accessibility - We love being able to have cheaper options for sale so more people can try out our products. As we expand more to solid gold and sterling silver we want to have options available for all price points.
How we Clean our Raw Brass:
Heat a pint of water, and add 2 tablespoons each of salt and white vinegar to create another natural recipe for polishing tarnished brass. Rub the mixture onto the brass, then dry with a clean rag.
Raw Brass Experience & Wear Test:
We are lucky to have a variety of different skin types working with FINCHES' so we can test out all of our products on different people. Kate has very sensitive skin and can not wear our brass earrings, the only earrings of ours she is able to wear is our 14k gold solid pieces. As for the rest of us, we are comfortably able to wear our Raw Brass earrings but are sure to remove them before going swimming, showering and sleeping. Our Raw Brass bangles haven't irritated any of our skin and our Aunt wears hers everyday and has experienced little to no tarnish and has not yet had to polish her pieces.
